"I enjoy painting other artists and craftsmen working in their environment doing what they do every day. All of the tools and materials they work with are so much fun to paint and satisfies my love of precise detail. In these paintings I am documenting history of an actual person plying their trade in this day and time. To date, I have done 4 saddle maker paintings, each of a different maker. This is Bill Allison, Saddle Maker, Rancher and Cowboy, in his log cabin shop in the Bull Mountains near Roundup, Montana. I was happy and privileged that this painting received the Gold Medal Award for painting and the Stetson Award at the anuual Cowboy Artists of America Exhibition in 2011."
