This painting had a part in Loren's election to the Cowboy Artists of America in 1992.
Loren's inspiration: "Pioneers had to cross such vast expanses of dry, dusty terrain. When they came to an oasis they must have really found reprieve and solace there. A lot of times the women would walk alongside the wagons in order to save the strength of the oxen. The cool water would have been refreshing to tired feet."
