"Movin' the Yearlings"

Painted for the 2015 50th Annual Cowboy Artists of America Exhibition.  Available for purchase through the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

Loren worked alongside these cowboys moving 2,600 yearlings through rough country in southwest South Dakota.  He remembers it being a cold, windy day with rain coming from the east.  There was no sun all day long.  He took the liberty to re-create morning light in this painting, which he felt added more contrast.
